The Icon of the Crucifixion is a reminder of the greatest sacrifice of love. It symbolizes the suffering and death of Jesus Christ, who willingly endured pain for the salvation of the world. On the Cross, God reveals His boundless love to us: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…” (John 3:16). Looking at the icon, we see not only sorrow and sacrifice, but also the hope of eternal life, for through the Cross comes the Resurrection.
